Huntsville Fire Department
We currently have 25 firefighters, including 5 officers. We have 2 frontline engines, 1 reserve engine, 1 mini-pumper, 1 tanker, and 1 support truck. Serving a population of approximately 3,500 over a coverage area of approximately 36 square miles the Huntsville Fire Department responds on average to 350 calls a year.
Our History
The Huntsville Fire Department was formally established in 1953. The fire department was created by concerned citizens because of the lack of fire protection in the county. In it's early years the Huntsville Fire Department protected all of Madison County Arkansas. The original engine was built by the firemen, this engine was taken out of service in 1985. In 1958, Huntsville's ISO rating went from a 9 to an 8 and later to a 6. In 2008 the ISO rating dropped to a 4. More to come later!
